Getting vaccinated is one of many important steps we can take to protect ourselves and others from COVID-19, as well as to help end the pandemic as a country. It’s important because this virus can cause severe illness or death for many, including people who may not be able to be vaccinated.
Vaccines work with our immune systems to train our bodies to fight the virus in the event of exposure. Regardless, taking steps like wearing a mask, social distancing, and frequently washing hands, helps to reduce our chances of being exposed to COVID-19 and spreading it to others. We must continue to practice them.
